K-W ACCESS-ABILITY OFFICE TRAINING

As a person with a physical disability, you have a right:
  • to the tools you need
  • to the job training you deserve
  • to make the best of your abilities
  • Kitchener-Waterloo Access-Ability, has served persons with physical disabilities since 1972. We can give you the office training you need for today's workplace.
With the proper office training, your employer will be focusing on your abilities rather than your disability.

Whether you are new to the workplace, or going to a new job, we can bring you up to speed on:
  • Contemporary Office Practices
  • Oral & Written Communications
  • Computing Essentials
If you have a physical disability, and want to learn the Corel Office Suite, the Microsoft Office Suite, Word, WordPerfect, PowerPoint, Excel or Lotus, this is the place to learn it.

Using computers that can speak to you or take dictation, we teach Functional Modules of Computer Literacy, including:
  • Keyboarding & Data Entry
  • Word Processing & Laser Printing
  • Data Bases & Spreadsheets
  • Mouse Work & Windows
  • Successful Saving & File Retrieval
  • Disk Care & File Management
Not only do we teach you HOW to operate a computer, we teach you WHAT NOT TO DO as well! Our courses cover critical do's and don'ts, common error messages, self-diagnostics and trouble-shooting, preventive maintenance, tips and shortcuts, and anti-virus strategies.

We are an authorized Ontario Disability Support Programme service provider, and we can give you the office skills you need to help you achieve your employment goals.

WORK STATION ASSESSMENTS

Workstation assessments are carried out to determine whether a trainee needs any special accommodations made to his or her workstation, to be able to perform the tasks required.

EVALUATION

Trainees are evaluated on, attendance, speed, accuracy, punctuality, problem solving, initiative and team work. We provide individualized attention, and lots of helpful handouts. On successful completion, a certificate is issued.
