What is a Mailing List?

Mailing lists on the Net are rather like newsgroups except that you receive the postings by mail instead of reading newsgroups in the usual way.

To access a mailing list, you must subscribe to it in a particular way which varies according to the mailing list. When you subscribe, you will receive instructions on how to 'post' to the list and other useful information about the list.

There are many, many different mailing lists available on the Net in general.
