Computer Recycling Programme

T.R.A.C.E. Programme

These machines are refurbished by our volunteers, and set up for use with an operating system and individual software. We then redistribute the completed machines, set up the members' workstations, and provide in-home instruction. We are always looking to find new and useful software for the accessibility of our members.

"Adaptive Computer Empowerment Services", (A.C.E.S.) a programme in San Diego, California, which inspired us, is a group dedicated to improving the lives of people with physical disabilities by empowering them through the use of computer technology. We also want to give people with physical disabilities the opportunity to be more involved in their community and to be more independent through the use of computer technology and the Internet.

We accept all functioning computers that are 486 and above. We are particularly interested in external and internal modems, sound cards, CD ROM drives, and software licenses. If you have something that might be of interest to us, please contact Chris Hodnett at 519-885-6640 or chodnett@kwa.on.ca

We are greatly indebted to our sponsors, the Good Foundation, and The Region of Waterloo, Service Canada and to all the other individuals and organizations that have assisted us with their donations of hardware, software, learning aids, and expertise.
