Conestoga Rovers and KWAA Electric Wheelchair Hockey Team Face-Off!

K-W Access-Ability's Electric Wheelchair Ice Hockey team played a memorable, "edge of your seat" game against their opposition, Conestoga Rovers & Associates. The Access-Ability team boasted excellent goaltending by Rita Rudolph, and bolstered by 3 members of Team Canada 98, Edward Faruzel and Peter Hulme, and Centre, Randy Barrett. Left and right-wing were played with the ease of unmistakable skill by Jim Parkins, and Ryan Quesnelle, respectively. The crisp passing between the forwards kept the Rovers scrambling for cover enabling Access-Ability to carry the play for much of the game. When the Rovers were able to mount an attack, Rita Rudolph's solid goaltending staved them off. The Rovers were a competitive opposition! As the game began, the Rovers were finding their bearings, challenged by hockey play in electric wheelchairs on ice. As time went on however, their potential shone, and as the minutes passed, their passing skills made it a hard fought game. Both team’s players were motivated by their fans. Remarkable individual skill coupled with crucial team cohesiveness made the Access-Ability team a powerful force - and in the end they were just too much for the Rovers! The winning score was 3 to 1 for our side, with Team Canada Captain Randy Barrett scoring two of those goals. And the crowd went wild! The support of the K-W Access-Ability and Rover's fans alike fueled each team's confidence , heightening the electricity. Says Jim Parkins, left-wing player in this unforgettable game: "This is an exciting event every year to be part of it and I look forward to it. It is a privilege to play with veteran team players who are skilled in their positions. The opposition is strong every year and it is great to see a local company support the programmes of K-W Access-Ability."
